SYDNEY: You can not visit Australia and skip over Sydney!  The city is vibrant and full of life, but is clean and safe for tourists as well.  Public transportation if easy to use from buses, taxi's and ferries.  Explore the city on a hop on/off bus tour to get a good layout of the city.  Take some time away from the city to go to Manley or Bondi beaches or head outside the city to the Blue Mountains and check out rugged scenery or head out to Hunter's Valley for some world class wine.

MELBOURNE: Another high-class city with lots of opportunity to see and do a variety of activities.  Dine on the Colonial Tramcar, travel along the Great Ocean Road, head out to Phillip Island to see the Penguin Parade, shopping and dining are highly rated in Melbourne and visit during the right time of year, you can catch a variety of sporting events.

BRISBANE: An entry way into the Gold Coast of Australia where miles of sandy beaches await you.  The famous Australia Zoo (Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's zoo) is just north of Brisbane and well worth a visit.  Stay in the city and explore the the shopping and restaurants before heading out to the Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef.

CAIRNS: Another entry port for the Great Barrier Reef and tropical Rain Forests.  A day spent at the Kuranda Rail and Skyrail is a must: take the scenic railway for a breathtaking journey, and visit the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park at the end of your day.  Board a catamaran and spend the day heading out to the Great Barrier Reef where you can snorkel and dive and enjoy the amazing reef.

ISLANDS OF THE GREAT BARRIER REEF: Getaway from all the hustle and bustle and relax!  A cluster of 74 islands makes up the Whitsundays region where you can stay on Hamilton Island, Hayman, Lizard Island, Heron Island and many more.  Snorkel, dive, and relax.  You can also take a  5 day Reef Cruise where you'll discover a few islands, have some BBQ lunches and have the chance to snorkel at multiple beaches.


AYERS ROCK/ALICE SPRINGS: A visit to one of the most iconic landscapes in Australia is a must on any itinerary.  Wake up early to check out the sunrise as it heats up the day.  Take a walking tour along the base of the rock with a guide who will point out Aboriginal rock paintings.  Come back as the sunsets to check out the colors changing on the rock as the sun goes down.  Dine under the stars where another guide will point out the Southern skies to you-be sure to check out the Southern Cross.  Also take some time to take a camel ride in the Outback-something you are sure to never forget!

ADELAIDE: Located in Southern Australia, Adelaide is known for it's friendly people and great wineries.  For some delicious wines, be sure to check out Clare Valley and Barrossa Valley.  Also a must do is a visit to Kangaroo Island-only 30 minutes by plane, 2 hours by bus or 45 minutes by ferry.  You will be able to see koalas and kangaroos in their natural habitats, as well as amazing beaches, sea lions and 240 species of birds.

RAIL JOURNEY'S: Another great way to see the country is by one of their popular rail journeys: The Ghan, the Indian Pacific or the East Coast/Sunlander.  The Ghan begins in Adelaide and will head north: you'll see mountain ranges, Coober Pedy, the Outback, Alice Springs and end up in Darwin in the Northern Territory. On the Indian Pacific you'll travel coast to coast from Sydney through the Blue Mountains, Broken Hill and Adelaide, through the Outback to Kalgoorlie and ending up in Perth on Western Australia.  On the East Coast/Sunlander, you'll travel from Brisbane up the Gold Coast  and arriving in Cairns.  Any of these journey's can be run backwards too.  A great way to see the country from the comfort of a train.

TASMANIA: The island may look small, but it's big with adventure!  Start in Hobart, a city full of friendly people, museums, history and great shopping and dining opportunities.  Be sure to spend a day at Port Arthur, one of the best known of Australia's penal settlements and take a tour of the historic site. For the brave, spend the night and take the haunted tour!  Also take the Tasman Island Cruise to check out the amazing coastline of southern Tasmania.  To escape the city, head out to Freycinet National Park and check out the beaches and peaceful areas.  Take the hike to Wineglass Bay-you'll be glad you did!  Head north to Cradle Mountain and explore many miles of hiking trails.  Stay at a rustic, but comfortable lodge and enjoy the peace and quite--perhaps spot wombats waddling by!
