My travel wanderlust started at a very early age. I believe that traveling allows you to learn about the world and yourself while experiencing new and exciting adventures. My personal travels have taken me all over the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, C...

Locals and their colorful homes in Burano, Italy

On our most recent cruise to Europe this summer with Cunard Cruise line, we were able to visit 12 different ports and cities that were new experiences to me. I enjoyed luxury cruising on a smaller ship, that allowed us to visit cities with smaller ports. Visiting Greece and Italy has been a dream of mine and every port was a cultural feast with beautiful scenery everywhere you turned.

What captured my heart the most though, was the ability to drop into everyday life and witness the life of the locals residing in each town.  Instead of taking selfies, I turned my camera the other direction and felt the passion and history of the citizens living and working in their sweet towns. We witnessed lemons and fruit being picked and displayed, pottery being created, sidewalks being swept, laughter in the coffee shops and a glimpse into what life lived well looks like. The sweetest town we visited turned out to be a small island, a short boat ride away from Venice, named Burano, where lace making originated. Each house was colorfully painted and there is a law there that you can paint your house any color but the same color as your neighbor. How fantastic is that? The results were bold and colorful, just like the local inhabitants. Whenever possible, I advise travelling off the main path and finding hidden gems off the beaten path.
