My husband and I love fishing here at home, so of course we have to enjoy deep sea fishing every time we are in Mexico. On the last trip, I managed to reel in that nights dinner!
We booked the excursion through the resort and we were picked up right in the lobby. We drove through the town of Puerto Morelos and ended up at Marina El Cid. My husband and I shared the boat with the captain, deck hand and 1 other customer, so it was nice to have the boat essentially to ourselves. The crew provided water and beer, a nice perk!
After a few hours on the water, the capital spotted that there was something on the line. It was my turn, so I sat in the chair towards the back of the boat. I started reeling in a beautiful Mahi Mahi. I wish I could remember how much it weighted, but it fought so hard it felt like I was reeling in a 100lb shark.
We got back to the dock and the deck hand let me take a picture with my catch, then filleted it right there.
We took it back to the resort and handed it to the concierge desk. They took it to the seafood restaurant where we enjoyed it as tacos for dinner.
It was one of the best fishing trips ever and I can't wait to do it again!
